Our Learn-to-swim Program

CSST is a certified SwimAmerica club. SwimAmerica is a national learn-to-swim program operated by American Swimming Coaches Association. Our coaches have been professionally trained to offer your child the latest in teaching and learning.

Program Objective

SwimAmerica is both "goal-driven" and "technique oriented." Children are taught in small groups (5:1) and have the ability to move up to progressively higher-level stations as they achieve the goals of their current group.

"Goal-driven" means having well-defined skills, which represent "graduation points" to the next station in the system. By having ten stations, children are rewarded for their efforts as they advance at every phase of the learn-to-swim progression. The Supervisor on deck can "graduate" a child to the next station at any point during the session so each child has the opportunity to advance at his or her own rate.

"Technique-oriented," means teaching proper stroke mechanics from the very beginning. As a child moves up to the next progressive station, proper technique is one of the criteria SwimAmerica coaches use in considering the advancement.

The emphasis of the CSST SwimAmerica program is to teach the four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly) while learning basic water safety in a fun, energetic atmosphere. New students are evaluated on the first day of the session in order to provide proper placement in the program. Every child receives a certificate outlining the advancement skills of each station and goals for future achievement.

Children achieving the skills listed in each station will advance to the next station:
